If you have followed my posts for a while it is easy to see that I like IBM Watson. Even though I write a lot about Cognitive Business and Cognitive Computing it is often connected to products from the Watson Group within IBM. Why is that? Is Watson simply the best? Am I biased? Well, the truth lies in between all of those.
Background – 18 years of IBM
Since 1998 I have worked with IBM in one way or the other. Started working at IBM Software in 1999 and did a few years there, then I joined Zystems (acquired by Enfo), an IBM Business Partner that was awarded by IBM multiple times, both as the Best Business Partner globally as well as the Best Competence Partner Globally. Zystem was 100% focused on IBM and only in the integration space (mq, message broker, bpm, Datapower etc). I then started both a digital communication agency and Silverbakk, both had IBM as clients. When I co-founded Monies, we choose Watson as the platform and was elected to join the Watson Ecosystem together with 350 other companies in the world.
Why IBM Watson?
This is a tricky one. Do I think Watson is the best tech within cognitive computing and AI? Yes, I do, but it does not mean that other tech is bad or not equally good. Within my area of expertise, which is large enterprises and business driven solutions, I am confident to say that IBM Watson is the clear leader.
The other part is that I know IBM and how to navigate that beast. I know the lingo, I have a network within IBM and I know the products. Working with IBM makes it easy for me to build great value propositions and actually make things happen. In terms of Watson, I have been to the Watson HQ in NYC several times, I have been in the Watson Ecosystem, I have actually built a company based on the Watson platform and on top of that I really relate to the potential with Cognitive Business that I know few have yet fully embraced, simply because it is a new way of doing business and a new way of utilizing unstructured data.
Why this post?
I do get questions if I work with other cognitive software products or if I only work with IBM. From a technology perspective, I only work with IBM. It is a simple logic. I know IBM, I know the products and I have the network. Therefore I (and World of Cognitive) will only work with IBM Watson.
There, I said it!
